The Universe is peppered with breathtaking, natural wonders that are stunning and inspire awe in those who are fortunate enough to witness them. From silvery, cascading waterfalls to magnificent mountain peaks, these remarkable creations of nature showcase Earth’s incredible beauty and power.

Being an avid traveler, I have covered almost all of the world’s most famous tourist spots, yet there is still a lot to explore. In this selection, I’ll introduce you to 7 of my favorite natural wonders of the world, which I had the privilege of seeing. Each offering a unique and mesmerizing glimpse into the splendors of our planet.

Grand Canyon National Park

A trip to the Casino capital of the world Las Vegas, Nevada would be incomplete without visiting one of the Wonders of the World nearby — the Grand Canyon! Located in the state of Arizona, it takes approximately one and a half hours, first by bus and then helicopter, to reach the Grand Canyon National Park from the Las Vegas Strip. We took this route — the easiest way to get there! Make sure to pre-book all the tickets in advance, as slots fill up really fast.

This was the most unique, natural phenomenon I have ever set eyes on. The stunning views of the enormous flame-colored walls plunging 4800 feet down into the gorge of the Colorado river is absolutely intriguing. No wonder that the Canyons are a World Heritage site.

Discover incredible aerial views aboard the helicopter ride as it soars over the park’s most astounding rock formations and features! The exposed layers of colorful rocks are created by the incision of the Colorado river and its tributaries. Also visible are the Navajo Bridge and Lake Mead, from the chopper.

Jungfrau Peak

Jungfrau in the Swiss Alps is one of the highest and most famous mountain peaks in Europe. The summit being at a height of 13,500 feet above sea level, has temperatures below sub zero level throughout the year. Our trip to this place was full of excitement and adventure, even though it was freezing.

Amazingly, even at such a height, this mighty mountain range is connected with a rail system (built-in 1912), covering most of the distance inside the mountain itself. A superb choice and mode of travel, intermediate stations with panoramic windows provide splendid outside views of the alpine region. The Eurorail system is absolutely top-class — sleek, well-maintained, and super fast.

My heart skipped a beat when the train ascended a steep mountain, and as it moved further, intriguing mountains covered in snow were visible all around. We eventually arrived at our destination, after passing through a series of tunnels…….an extremely cold, water-dripping station.

Full-length glass windows on the viewing deck provide travelers with spectacular sights of the vast, pure white mountain range. Truly seemed like paradise!! Despite being bone-chillingly cold, my family and I nonetheless went outside in the slippery, creamy snow. Kids thoroughly enjoyed playing in the snow. Though after a while a blizzard negated all visibility and numbed by the intense cold, we had to hurry back inside the ice museum.

Twelve Apostles

Next on my list are the incredible `Twelve Apostles‘ …….an out of the world creations of nature on the east coast of Australia. Formed by the action of winds and waves, over thousands of years, the twelve (currently eight are visible) limestone pillars emerging from the ocean are a highly recommended tourist spot in Australia.

Stunning sights of the aquamarine ocean and the rocky landscape can be enjoyed from the serpentine road stretching all along the cliff, which serves as the viewing area. Tourists also have the option of taking a chopper ride to get a bird’s eye view of the entire region. Equally enchanting is the three-and-a-half-hour drive from Melbourne, along the scenic Ocean road, amidst forests on one side and ocean vistas on the other.

Rohtang Pass

This Himalayan getaway, situated 51 kms from Manali in Himachal Pradesh, India, though quite treacherous to reach, yet is worth being to. All the way an uphill climb, along steep, narrow roads. Situated at an altitude of 13,060 feet above sea level, the spot offers stunning views of snow-capped peaks and glaciers. Though this trip was not undertaken recently, it’s still fresh in my memory.

En route, there is a stop-over at `Snow Point’, where there is enough snow to create a snowman. People irrespective of their age, enjoy playing in the snow, rolling snowballs and hurling at each other or just moving around, and lounging in the soft, fluffy snow.

Tourists have to take those furry snow caps, gloves, jackets, and boots available on rent here in order to cope with the sub-zero temperatures and icy winds. There is also an option of taking a break at the village of Kothi, which is a fabulous spot amidst alpine meadows and the most phenomenal river Beas as it comes roaring down through a deep gauge.

Due to its heavy spells of snowfall, this exotic location is an ideal destination for adventure sports like skiing. This required some expertise, so we opted for the safer option of merely sliding on the snowy slopes in a huge rubber tube. There are also other activities like horse riding and even short, rafting trips on the river, for kids above 12 years.

The most fascinating part of this trip was obviously the snow and the gorgeous views around. Wherever you gaze, you will find the pristine, white snow covering the entire landscape. An absolutely divine feeling!

Folks if you are planning for your next adventure or simply seeking inspiration, choose from this list, our planet offers a diverse range of experiences that cater to every traveler’s desire.

Top 5 Things to do in Munnar for a Fulfilling Experience

My previous blog on Munnar was about the main tourist attractions in this well-known hill station of Kerala. This blog is about some other spots of Munnar which treat you with beautiful sceneries, are less crowded and ensure a fulfilling experience of this mountain escape. Moreover, an opportunity to explore around, that leave everlasting impressions.

Adventurous Journey Through Lofty Mountains and Forests

A journey to the hills of Munnar are nothing less than a rollercoaster ride. Travelers planning a trip must be prepared for a four-hour road journey, that takes them through thick forests, and precarious mountain bends. A word of warning – the curvaceous route may leave you with a bout of motion sickness; and the best way to overcome that is to grab the front seat of the vehicle. In case, that is not possible then look straight ahead, fixing your gaze on the road ahead and not from the sides of the window. Though, thankfully the discomfort is temporary. On reaching the destination, you’ll forget all your woes and find yourself in the most magical destination.

Munnar

The views on the way are no less impressive as you maneuver your way through Kerala’s protected wildlife reserves and dense forests. This area is home to a range of animals and birds and is heavily guarded. Vehicles coming from outside the state are stopped at the check post before allowing entry.

If you’ve been to Munnar before, you’ll realize that the gushing waterfalls and lakes may no longer what they used to be, having shrunk in number and size to some extent. Fortunately, the greenery and foliage is intact and this hill getaway is as attractive as before, giving tourists joyful experiences and relaxation.

Here are my chosen list of top 5 things to do in Munnar for a fulfilling experience:

ATTUKADU WATERFALLS

You’ll be stunned by these waterfalls cascading down into the valley, as you set eyes on them from atop the tea gardens. A silvery stream ensconced in an emerald cushion! This is the halting point for tourists, for taking in the magnificent views and clicking photographs. And, for those who are unfamiliar with the area, don’t head back from here yet. Walking further on the path going downhill for 2 kms into the valley you’ll reach the base of the falls. You can enjoy the falls closely, though it may not be as impressive from here. This is an ideal place for trekking enthusiasts as well!! At this juncture, a tea break is what trekkers and holiday makers need. Surprisingly, that’s what you’ll find across the bridge – a cute café in the wilderness.

Munnar

CHENGULAM  – Top 5 Things to do in Munnar for a Fulfilling Experience

Chengulam dam and lake – though not as famous as the Madupetty dam, it’s a highly recommended place on my list as it is less crowded and more serene. Lying in the valley, descend to the tranquil lake to enjoy a boat ride and panoramic views of the surrounding jungles and mountains.  A relaxing time in the park in the front, will surely raise your spirits at the end.

Munnar

POTHAMEDU & SUNSET VIEWPOINT

Munnar has several breath-taking viewing points, offering excellent views of the rolling hills, verdant forests, tea plantations through floating clouds. Pothamedu being one of my favorites.  Splendid views of the plantations, hills and valley slipping in and out of mist, the backdrop of abundant greenery, the fresh mountain air make it an ideal location for mountain walks and treks.

Sunset Point – as the name suggests, it’s ideal to be here at sunset, and revel in the captivating phenomenon.

Munnar

Tourists will be delighted to discover a string of such idyllic spots dotting the landscape of Munnar. Further up, on the way to the highest mountain Anamudi, as you cross Rajamala, there are few famous points worth exploring. The region has multiple tea, coffee, spice estates. A green velvet blanket covering the mountains and the valleys, enveloped in mist. These are open to tourists who are free to walk in-between, admiring the scenery and clicking pictures.

HYDEL PARK

A beautiful park, with well-manicured lawns, a fine collection of flora and fauna, in the midst of this luxuriant hill station goes by the name of Hydel Park. A placid stream, an aquarium and a zip line for the adventurous are other attractions here.

Another activity that tourists may look forward to in the future is hot air balloon tour . It has been recently introduced, though still not completely operational.

A Tea Break Worth Taking

Passing through the twist and turns of mountain roads, you are sure to come across tea and snack stalls at the bends. It is enticing for the weary traveler to stop here for tea break in between sightseeing expeditions. The cool weather is ideal to sip a steaming cup of tea/ coffee and relish hot snacks like roasted corn or lip smacking maggi. A chance to enjoy your stay from a different perspective.

GOLD COAST, AUSTRALIA  – One Of The Most Beautiful Beaches In The World

A trip to the beautiful Gold Coast, Australia, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, is like experiencing the joys of life in all its glory. Sun, sand, scenic beach, combined with the glitz and glamour of a swanky metro! As the plane descended onto our destination, the incredible view of the glimmering ocean below and the silhouette of the towering skyscrapers in the backdrop was awe-inspiring.

Gold Coast is quite a compact place, as such easy to get
around. It also has the privilege of having one of the longest and
cleanest beaches in the entire continent. A popular escape for tourists
who flock here from around the world, reveling in the soothing views,
as the frothy waves ebb and flow on the smooth white sand.

City Vibes

A late-night stroll in the area adjacent to the beach, which is the heart
of the city, is refreshing and worth a visit. It transforms into a lively,
happening, brightly illuminated place in the night, where people freely
frolic around eating, drinking in gay abandonment, and merrily singing
and dancing.

A must-visit spot in Gold Coast is its topmost structure – the Skydeck.
Get great views of the breathtaking coastline from here, whilst taking a
coffee break at the lounge!

GOA – One Of The Most Beautiful Beaches Of India

Goa, the land of sand, surf, and serenity, is a holiday destination in
India, that appeals much to all age groups. As we headed to this most beautiful beach, on a monsoon get-away, the enchanting moments captured for eternity.

Lush greenery, languorous sea waves lapping against the hill-side. Or as
you turn down-hill, the breath-taking view of a vast, green field with a
neat, white-washed church in the midst of it is soul-stirring. As we traversed the smooth, winding roads of the city,   beautiful  Portuguese style villa-like cottages, in vibrant colors on both sides of the tree-lined roads look so elegant.

Famous Beaches

Spending ample time on the beaches of Goa is the best way to enjoy the place and feel its vibe. Numerous, colorfully decorated shacks(restaurants) dot the marvelous Calangute beach (one of the cleanest beaches), reverberating with music and hordes of Indian and foreign tourists. These shacks even provide beach chairs with a canopy to weary travelers, accompanied by a piping hot, sumptuous meal that ensures a  relaxed, rejuvenating holiday. Before you realize it the gentle murmur of the waves and the subtle blowing wind may surely lull you to sleep!

Must Try Goanese Cuisine

A trip to any place is incomplete without a taste of their local food. One specialty of Goanese cuisine is the `vindaloo’, which is a type of spicy curry in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. This dish is quite popular here and in the surrounding Konkan region. Another local favorite is the delicious prawn curry cooked in coconut milk and other spices, this goes well with rice. Goa being a coastal town, a wide variety of exotic fish is available here –including crab and lobster. So for sea-food connoisseurs, this is an ideal holiday destination.

Langkawi, Malaysia – The Most Beautiful Beach In South East Asia

A half-hour flight from the capital Kuala Lumpur, the main beach of Langkawi is quite a happening,  lively spot, teeming with joyful tourists. engaged in watersports, beach volleyball, boat rides, and a bunch of other activities. Foliage covered jade hillocks, rising from the sun-kissed pristine waters of the Andaman sea is a unique sight to behold.

Indulge In Shopping

As with most beach destinations, the entrance to this beach too has hordes of shops selling local stuff, souvenirs, and trinkets at reasonable prices. Do engage in some retail therapy; worth buying is the hand-made, tie-dye colorful t-shirts/apparels, which is a special craft of this region. Malaysia is well known as a shopping hub too. It’s huge malls are quite popular with tourists. Clothes, footwear, electronic items, variety of chocolates, handicrafts and souvenirs at reasonable prices are worth buying.

As true of destinations having a tropical climate, the weather quickly transformed from clear blue skies to one overcast with dark clouds and strong winds. Caught unaware in the sudden downpour and without umbrellas or raincoats, we were completely drenched. A word of advice to travelers planning a trip to this part of the planet is to always carry rain gears, as the weather can be unpredictable.

Beaches are my all-time favorite holiday destination, bolstering physical and mental well-being. And If it is to the most beautiful beaches in the world the experience is definitely enhanced.
