Journeying on the Best Luxury Houseboat in Kerala

In the genre of immersive tourism a trip to Kerala’s backwaters scores higher than any other experience. This form of slow travel implies the art of not rushing around when traveling, in an attempt to tick off as many tourist attractions as possible in a short time. Secondly, allowing the world to move just a little slower so that we actually notice it.

Kerala, in South India, better known as God’s Own Country is dotted with a host of beautiful tourist spots — rolling, misty mountains, verdant forests, pristine beaches, and backwaters and is endowed with lush greenery.

Having heard so much about the famous `backwaters’ in Kumarakom, this trip was planned much in anticipation. I wasn’t sure whether it was a hype or not, but the stage was being set for something amazing.

Indulging in a slow travel experience, relaxation, and leisure were the key ingredients of this trip. To immerse fully in the experience at our own unhurried pace, truly absorbing the essence of the place!

The train is the best way to travel on this route till Kottayam in Kerala. Moreover, the convenience of sleeping your way through this night-long journey makes it ideal. We reached Kottayam at 11.30 am which is the nearest station, 10 km away from Kumarakom.

A half-hour cab ride later, bearing the sultry weather, we reached our resort in Kumarakom, nestled on the periphery of the famous Vembanad lake. The lake-facing abode had picturesque views — a massive expanse of water peppered with tiny boats, the shores fringed with swaying palm trees.

Experiencing the Backwaters Aboard a Houseboat

This is something that tourists especially travel for….. a rendezvous in a traditional houseboat, drifting along the tranquil backwaters. You have a choice of opting from 5-hour excursions, to more indulgent overnight stays. Our chosen slot was from 12 noon to evening 5 pm, ensuring a unique daytime experience.

The sheer sight of the majestic vessel docked at the lake was enough to elevate your spirits, a testament to its eco-friendly construction from materials like jute, bamboo, and wood. Its design closely resembling a traditional row boat, lending an air of rustic charm. The interiors too had elegance and comfort interwoven seamlessly, featuring two bedrooms with attached washrooms. Offering a touch of luxury in the lap of nature, on the deck a thoughtfully arranged dining table and chairs provided a scenic setting for serving meals.

Houseboat on Backwaters

Treasured Moments All the Way

Present on board are a chef and the boatman, who accompany guests. The latter know the directions and geography of the area on the tips of their fingers and tourists are reassured that they are in safe hands for the next few hours. The chef’s role is to ensure that everyone is well fed and happy….. providing warm, delicious, freshly cooked local cuisines.

After all the welcome formalities were complete on boarding, the boat navigated through the Vembanad lake, leading into the intricate network of backwaters and canals.

As the boat made its way on the sparkling lake, sometimes through lush greenery, an archway of palm trees or through the endless stretch of verdant paddy fields. We relaxed on the cane chairs on the deck with music and eatables. The pleasant breeze was a balm to the soul, as we savored the beauty of the  surroundings, absorbing the soothing sights.

This was an epitome of immersive travel that I’ve ever experienced. Far from the madding crowds, free of any agendas, or rushing from one destination to the next. Merely being, doing nothing and just appreciating the journey itself!

Within an hour of the commencement of the journey, the houseboat had crossed the lake and entered the backwaters. On both sides of the canal there are narrow pieces of land on which local people build houses and live in them. The main entrance of these houses face the canals and there are no roads or pathways as such. People here use long and narrow boats to travel — which is easier, and faster.

An important component of slow travel is connecting with the culture and environment of the place, and tasting the local cuisine. This is exactly what we did –   and it turned out to be one of the most meaningful travel experiences!

DETOX YOUR DIET

While it is crucial to focus on what to include in your diet to maintain optimal health, it’s equally important to consider what items to avoid or lessen.

Doesn’t every visit to a general practitioner entail being instructed to lessen salt, sugar, and oil intake? Indicating that reducing these products is extremely crucial for maintaining optimal health. The result of hearing these pearls of wisdom countless times is that most of us on the path to wellness and healthy living incorporate these into their daily routines. So here’s the list of food items that we ought to reduce consuming :

Six Foods To Banish For Better Health

Sugar — it could be the sugary snacks, beverages, or desserts that we all adore or the hidden sugar in sauces, dressing, and packaged food. Although sugar gives us a high initially, it crashes just as quickly. Any form of sugar if not taken in moderation can lead to obesity, type 2 diabetes, and dental problems. Though the variety of cakes, pastries, baked goodies, gourmet chocolates, and ice-creams sold are simply hard to resist!  Indulging once in a while is perfectly alright.

Try to reduce your sugar intake in tea/ coffee from half a teaspoon to a quarter. Even if you use sugar in cooking, the organic variety of brown sugar is ideal. Or substitute sugar with honey.

Salt — excessive salt consumption increases the volume of water in our bloodstream, leading to high blood pressure. More salt means higher levels of sodium in the system, thereby, causing ill health.

Switch to healthier versions of `pink salt or rock salt’. These types of salts are considered to be unrefined and natural, having fewer chemicals, and additives compared to the regular table salt. Additionally, are enriched with essential minerals, that are health boosters.

Fried or greasy foods — that are high in calories are full of unhealthy fats and cholesterol ought to be consumed within limits. The choice of cooking oil significantly impacts our health. Olive oil, mustard oil, rice bran, or safflower oil (high in omega 3) are the ideal options. These type of oils contain beneficial compounds that promote better health. Healthcare professional advise not to reuse oil that has already been used for frying once as this can adversely affect our health.

Trans fat — is the artificial fat found in processed and fried food. They raise bad cholesterol (LDL) levels thereby increasing the risk of heart diseases. Similarly, saturated fats, such as full-fat dairy products, oil-laden food, and red meats are to be avoided.

Processed food, refined items including sugar or flour, lack vital dietary fibres and nutrients. Therefore are less desirable choices for a balanced and nutritious diet.

When considering food options like canned soups, packaged meals, and snacks it’s crucial to be a discerning consumer. Though these are apparently convenient to use, but are detrimental to health in the long run. Make informed choices by reading food labels diligently and skip products that contain partially hydrogenated oil.

On a final note, adhering to the above guidelines, plus following a healthy lifestyle, exercising regularly, and reducing stress levels are pointers to wellness.

The Universe is peppered with breathtaking, natural wonders that are stunning and inspire awe in those who are fortunate enough to witness them. From silvery, cascading waterfalls to magnificent mountain peaks, these remarkable creations of nature showcase Earth’s incredible beauty and power.

Being an avid traveler, I have covered almost all of the world’s most famous tourist spots, yet there is still a lot to explore. In this selection, I’ll introduce you to 7 of my favorite natural wonders of the world, which I had the privilege of seeing. Each offering a unique and mesmerizing glimpse into the splendors of our planet.

Grand Canyon National Park

A trip to the Casino capital of the world Las Vegas, Nevada would be incomplete without visiting one of the Wonders of the World nearby — the Grand Canyon! Located in the state of Arizona, it takes approximately one and a half hours, first by bus and then helicopter, to reach the Grand Canyon National Park from the Las Vegas Strip. We took this route — the easiest way to get there! Make sure to pre-book all the tickets in advance, as slots fill up really fast.

This was the most unique, natural phenomenon I have ever set eyes on. The stunning views of the enormous flame-colored walls plunging 4800 feet down into the gorge of the Colorado river is absolutely intriguing. No wonder that the Canyons are a World Heritage site.

Discover incredible aerial views aboard the helicopter ride as it soars over the park’s most astounding rock formations and features! The exposed layers of colorful rocks are created by the incision of the Colorado river and its tributaries. Also visible are the Navajo Bridge and Lake Mead, from the chopper.

Jungfrau Peak

Jungfrau in the Swiss Alps is one of the highest and most famous mountain peaks in Europe. The summit being at a height of 13,500 feet above sea level, has temperatures below sub zero level throughout the year. Our trip to this place was full of excitement and adventure, even though it was freezing.

Amazingly, even at such a height, this mighty mountain range is connected with a rail system (built-in 1912), covering most of the distance inside the mountain itself. A superb choice and mode of travel, intermediate stations with panoramic windows provide splendid outside views of the alpine region. The Eurorail system is absolutely top-class — sleek, well-maintained, and super fast.

My heart skipped a beat when the train ascended a steep mountain, and as it moved further, intriguing mountains covered in snow were visible all around. We eventually arrived at our destination, after passing through a series of tunnels…….an extremely cold, water-dripping station.

Photo by Fuyu Yeo on7 Natural Wonders Of The World Unsplash

Full-length glass windows on the viewing deck provide travelers with spectacular sights of the vast, pure white mountain range. Truly seemed like paradise!! Despite being bone-chillingly cold, my family and I nonetheless went outside in the slippery, creamy snow. Kids thoroughly enjoyed playing in the snow. Though after a while a blizzard negated all visibility and numbed by the intense cold, we had to hurry back inside the ice museum.

Twelve Apostles

Next on my list are the incredible `Twelve Apostles‘ …….an out of the world creations of nature on the east coast of Australia. Formed by the action of winds and waves, over thousands of years, the twelve (currently eight are visible) limestone pillars emerging from the ocean are a highly recommended tourist spot in Australia.

Stunning sights of the aquamarine ocean and the rocky landscape can be enjoyed from the serpentine road stretching all along the cliff, which serves as the viewing area. Tourists also have the option of taking a chopper ride to get a bird’s eye view of the entire region. Equally enchanting is the three-and-a-half-hour drive from Melbourne, along the scenic Ocean road, amidst forests on one side and ocean vistas on the other.

Rohtang Pass

This Himalayan getaway, situated 51 kms from Manali in Himachal Pradesh, India, though quite treacherous to reach, yet is worth being to. All the way an uphill climb, along steep, narrow roads. Situated at an altitude of 13,060 feet above sea level, the spot offers stunning views of snow-capped peaks and glaciers. Though this trip was not undertaken recently, it’s still fresh in my memory.

En route, there is a stop-over at `Snow Point’, where there is enough snow to create a snowman. People irrespective of their age, enjoy playing in the snow, rolling snowballs and hurling at each other or just moving around, and lounging in the soft, fluffy snow.

Tourists have to take those furry snow caps, gloves, jackets, and boots available on rent here in order to cope with the sub-zero temperatures and icy winds. There is also an option of taking a break at the village of Kothi, which is a fabulous spot amidst alpine meadows and the most phenomenal river Beas as it comes roaring down through a deep gauge.

Due to its heavy spells of snowfall, this exotic location is an ideal destination for adventure sports like skiing. This required some expertise, so we opted for the safer option of merely sliding on the snowy slopes in a huge rubber tube. There are also other activities like horse riding and even short, rafting trips on the river, for kids above 12 years.

The most fascinating part of this trip was obviously the snow and the gorgeous views around. Wherever you gaze, you will find the pristine, white snow covering the entire landscape. An absolutely divine feeling!

Folks if you are planning for your next adventure or simply seeking inspiration, choose from this list, our planet offers a diverse range of experiences that cater to every traveler’s desire.

Save Our Planet Before It’s Too Late : Moving Towards Sustainability

The care of the earth is our most ancient & most worthy & most pleasing responsibility. To cherish what remains of it & to foster its renewal is our only hope” by Wendell Berry

Sustainability is the need of the hour. The pandemic has been a clarion call, teaching us valuable lessons that we cannot forget soon. It’s not only our health that is of prime importance but also protecting our environment. Failing which can have devastating repercussions.  So, citizens of the world wake up !! Save Our Planet Before It’s Too Late : Moving Towards Sustainability .

It is the responsibility of each individual on planet earth to work towards this cause. The good news is that there is an uptick in sustainable living worldwide. In fact, more and more travelers are realizing the significance of sustainable travel. Plus initiatives of organizations around the world, working towards saving our natural environment, is a positive shift in this direction.

Already there are carbon neutral places in Netherlands, Denmark, Norway. Others are following suit. Banning the use of plastics, easy access to rental bikes and separate cycling lanes, are conscious efforts towards reducing carbon emission. In France wastage of food by hotels is  punishable, thus paving the way for zero wastage.

Sustainable Travel Recently, in New Delhi, the tourism ministry, along with United Nations Environment Program and Responsible Tourism Society of India have launched National Strategy for Sustainable Tourism and Responsible Traveler Campaign. Through this forum key components that pave the way for sustainable tourism have been identified – from protecting biodiversity, environmental sustainability to promoting economic and socio-cultural sustainability.(Source : Times of India)

It’s appreciable that we celebrate World Environment Day during which a number of activities and campaigns are organized to create awareness and involvement of people.

As an individual who is an avid traveler, and supporter of eco tourism. I dedicate this write up to sustainable travel practices and ways of adopting it.

Sustainable Travel

Here’s what we as conscientious travelers can do :
  • Beginning from how each one of us can contribute , which is the most doable to transformation at global levels. Something as simple as throwing litter in the bin, carrying our own, reusable water bottles, while on the go. Saying no to plastic, and using non toxic material like glass or steel.
  • Staying in hotels that adhere to sustainability norms – including use of solar power, energy efficient lighting system and natural/ organic products.

Sustainable Travel

  • Encouraging indigenous communities by taking their services or buying from them. A step closer to accomplishing our aim for sustainable travel is to stay in accommodations owned by localites, like homestays or airbnb’s.
  • Go Green should be the mantra!! Furthermore, opting eco-friendly hotels within natural surroundings is not only therapeutic, but also adds towards sustainable practises.

According to statistics published by the digital travel company Booking.com, 91% of Indian travelers want to travel sustainably. That’s a 3% increase over the previous year. Also 94% of travelers worldwide wish to incorporate eco-tourism. These are encouraging trends, indicating a positive drift towards sustainability to save our planet.

What To See in Munich in Two Days

A different mode of travel than the usual air travel is always welcome . And this was how my first trip to Munich, Germany. Opting to travel by train in Europe is enthralling.

An excellent network of trains all across Europe, connecting its countries, makes traveling so convenient, additionally you get to enjoy the views of the verdant picture postcard countryside.

Munich seamlessly blends the contemporary with the medieval, where modern structures stand alongside ancient castles.

Our first destination was the Olympic Park or Olympia Park which has an Olympic Stadium, a picturesque lake, an iconic observation tower, a swimming pool, and a beautiful landscape. This spot is not just a center for leisure and sports activities but a testament to Munich’s diverse offerings.

A guided tour on the toy train takes you around the unique architecture and is worth taking.

The highlight of the park is the 190 meters tall Olympic towers that offers excellent views of Munich. As it was raining the day we visited, clarity was compromised. It’s said that when the weather is favorable you can see the Alps from here.

Our next stop was the Nymphenburg Palace and Park nestled in Munich’s western district Neuhausen, which served as the main summer residence of the former rulers of Bavaria. The enchanting pearly castle’s Baroque decor, extravagantly decorated interiors, and extensive parks are worth a visit.

Author’s Album — Nymphenburg Palace

Depending upon your time and budget there are 3 options to explore and visitors have to buy separate tickets for them: Palace Rooms with Ludwig 1’s Gallery of Beauties; Park with Pavilions; Marstallmuseum and Museum of Nymphenburg Porcelain.

Wandering through the surroundings, don’t miss spotting ducks in the water body outside the Palace.

Author’s Album-Munich Residence

The Munich Residence, historically serving as the seat of the Government of Bavarian Dukes, stands as one of the most significant Palace complexes in Europe. This architectural marvel impresses visitors with its sheer magnitude, boasting of over 130 rooms open to the public, and also houses the treasury of the Wittelsbachs. The stunning interiors have been captured by my camera.

We were also witness to Deutschland’s soccer mania, right in the heart of Munich, the bustling Marienplatz square. Roaring crowds of soccer fans thronged the streets, as a much-anticipated football match was scheduled that day. The excited frenzy extended till the subway as well, as we steered through the cheering crowds to get onto our train.

The central square of Munich is marked by three distinctive features that capture the essence of Munich :

The City Hall Tower — dominates the skyline and offers a captivating viewing deck at its peak. Accessible by an elevator, it provides a breathtaking panorama of the city.

The Church of St Peters — this elegant church graces the square, its spire piercing the sky and adding a touch of historical grandeur to the urban landscape.

Author’s Album – The Church of St Peters

The Fish Fountain: is a cozy corner, where people can sit, relax while soaking in the vibrant atmosphere.

Tourists in Germany may encounter language issues to some extent, especially at popular tourist spots. But it was manageable.

Even though it is the peak summer season in Dubai, with the temperature crossing the 45-degree mark, there is no dearth of tourists in this region of the United Arab Emirates. Malls, hotels, restaurants, tourist spots, and roads are choc-a-block.

An epitome of luxury, affluence, and extravagance, Dubai, exudes an aura that makes you feel like royalty. The grandiose airport with its lavish décor lending a sense of glitz and glamour is the first thing you notice as you exit your flight. Of course, there is also a cutting-edge system that streamlines all the procedures.

This was my second trip as a tourist, and I stayed for a week. Otherwise, this Middle eastern city is usually a stop-over — a transit point to take flights to Europe and America.

One of the seven Emirates that constitute the UAE, Dubai is known for its incredible transformation from a small fishing village, and a trading port into a global city and a major international hub for business, tourism, and luxury. The deserts of Arabia have always attracted me — from the picture-perfect golden sand dunes to culture, food, the famous Arabian dance, and mind-blowing architecture.

Dubai

I got an opportunity to learn more and delve into the lifestyle of the people of the UAE on this trip; described here in my dubai travel diaries. The rapidly evolving culture is a blend of traditional customs and values, alongside a significant influence of modernization. People in the Emirati community are strongly devout, dress traditionally, and adhere to conventions.

Despite its modernity, Dubai has maintained its cultural heritage. This is apparent in a number of ways :

Traditional markets called the souks give tourists a glimpse into the past and the kind of markets that once existed. Spice, gold, colognes, incense, fabrics, dates, and artifacts are among the things tourists can purchase at these shops.

Experience the distinct heritage of Dubai in the neighborhood of Al Seef. Steeped in history, the vibrant colors of Old Dubai come alive, giving you a chance to discover more about this Arabian city.

You can go shopping, explore the maze-like lanes between the beige-colored buildings, or take a ride on the traditional abra boat at Dubai Creek.

Dubai has morphed into a multicultural society and is home to a diverse population consisting of people from all over the world who come to live and work in the city. A place where you weave a dream and it turns out to be true. This diversity contributes to its cosmopolitan atmosphere.

My Dubai Travel Diary encompasses top tourist destinations, I wouldn’t be listing according to the top-rated attractions, but rather the recently opened ones that are intriguing:

Museum of the Future — I was told, that this fairly new attraction in Dubai is a must-visit and I was absolutely not mistaken. There is a lot of interesting stuff inside in addition to the exteriors, which is eye-catching owing to its distinctive shape and design. Get ready to journey to the year 2071 at the Future Museum. Your journey begins by being escorted in a lift that resembles a spacecraft, taking you to an Orbital space station. This is on the top floor, and from there you can tour the floors below. Tickets priced at 186 dirhams are not very reasonable, but it’s worth it.

Having a photograph clicked with this unique structure in the background is aesthetically pleasing. The highlight of the Future Museum is the viewing deck on the outside, where you get a chance to take photos.

Dubai Frame — Embellishing the skyline is the golden-hued Dubai Frame. This 150-meter-tall rectangular frame-like structure offers breathtaking panoramic views of both old and new Dubai.

It has its two towers connected by a 93-meter-long glass-floored bridge at the top. Walking on this Skydeck is a thrilling experience, as you can see the ground directly below your feet. For me, it was an uncanny feeling, hence people with acrophobia should be cautious.

Dubai
Author’s Album : Dubai Frame

As you enter you’ll come across an interactive exhibit and gallery portraying the history of Dubai and before exiting a 3-D show on the future vision of this Arabian metropolis. Tickets priced at 52 dirhams are quite affordable.

A time-saving tip — visit the Dubai Frame after seeing the future museum. As these two are located close by, both can be covered within 4 hours.

Dubai Travel Diaries

Burj Khalifa — the tallest skyscraper in the world knows no introduction. Guests can go up to the 124th & 125th floors or 148th and 154th floors. Then there are prime hours and non-prime hours, for which ticket costs are different.

A host of activities revolve around this iconic landmark that shimmers and sparkles in the night. There is the fountain show happening several times a day, just outside the building. The entire area is exquisitely lit up in the night and dazzles with a light show. Having a room with a view of this towering structure from our hotel (Taj Dubai) was like a feather in the cap and was the most fulfilling experience.

Dubai
Author’s Album : Dubai Mall

Dubai Mall — This enormous mall serves as the entrance to Burj Khalifa and is a symbol of luxury and entertainment. You’ll find every high-end luxury brand outlet under its roof. There’s always a lingering fragrance emanating as you walk around, uplifting your spirits.

There’s a wide choice of restaurants and food as well. Finding your way around may not be easy, digital map screens on every floor help tourists navigate. It is not just a shopping center but also features attractions like an ice skating rink, an aquarium, and a waterfall.

Other famous malls in Dubai are the Mall of Emirates and Ibn Batuta.

A string of theme parks, namely, Legoland, Motion Gate, and Aquaventure Water Park are some other attractions to enthrall tourists.

Dubai
Author’s Album : Lost Chambers

Helpful Tips :

The currency of Dubai is the Dirham (1 Dirham is equivalent to 0.27 dollars and 23 Indian Rupees)

Taxis are a convenient mode of transportation, though a cheaper option would be the metro. Otherwise, Uber and Careem apps are also popular.

To prevent yourself from the scorching heat always carry water, sunscreen, and an umbrella.

If you are visiting that part of Europe that is carbon neutral and scores high on sustainability, you’ll be rewarded with a perfect, clean, and green getaway like Copenhagen. Copenhagen is a beautiful, bike-friendly city with a rich history and culture. There’s something for everyone here. From world-class museums and art galleries, centuries-old castles and palaces, and delicious food, to charming shops, cafes, and parks.

What to See in Copenhagen

For history buffs  Christianborg Palace and the Rosenberg Castle would be fascinating, giving a walkthrough the lives of Danish royalty. You may feel like skipping them if you’re there for a short time, but these grand places are worth a visit. The center of the Danish Parliament, the Christianborg Palace may not have attractive exteriors, and you may not be much impressed. But once you step inside you’ll find the opulent interiors awe-inspiring.

Christianborg Palace

The most famous touristy spot of Copenhagen is Nyhaven. Once a 17th-century fishing village, is now a dazzling waterfront entertainment zone, with a string of cafes, restaurants, and brightly painted houses. You’ll also come across centuries-old iconic wooden ships at Nyhaven. It’s a pleasure to walk beside the canal and enjoy the views. There are coffee shops with fireplaces that provide hot drinks and offer a haven from the chilly winds outside. Must try is the crispy, layered Danish pastry, which is delicious.

The Little Mermaid – based on a fairy tale written by a Danish author, this bronze statue of the little mermaid sitting on a rock is situated by the waterside at the Langelinie promenade. This is a great photo spot full of tourists.

Another Copenhagen highlight is a guided boat tour of the canal. Find significant historical landmarks on this tour as the guide describes them, while admiring the beauty and listening to engrossing tales from the past. It was interesting to know that the author of the famous story the `Ugly Duckling was a resident of Copenhagen too.

Several modern and historic museums dot the city. We decided on the Design museum which had numerous masterpieces on display.

Copenhagen

Getting around is quite easy in the capital of Denmark.  Though there are various modes of transport, like, metro, bus, cab, or even ferry, using a bike is common. Specific tracks on the sides of roads, make it so convenient for cycling. It not just saves fuel but keeps the surroundings free of carbon emissions. Walking around on foot appeals to some as well.

Something that is unpredictable in Copenhagen, like most of Europe is the weather. On the day we arrived it was bright and sunny and as luck would have it, the following day there were incessant rains. Our canal trip was therefore interrupted by showers, but thankfully the boat had a glass roof so we could still take in the scenery.

Considering the erratic weather having raincoats and umbrellas with you is a necessity. Even though it may mean hauling heavier bags, it is preferable than getting drenched in the midst of your vacation.

Currency : Danish Krone

Staying at the centrally located Mayfair Hotel was a pleasant experience. Not only are the rooms comfortable, the food and ambiance is nice as well. As much as we wanted to, because of a shortage of time, missed going to the famous Tivoli Gardens.

Aiport Fashion Ideas – 7 Best

Nowadays, airport fashion has gained much popularity, thanks to our plethora of stylishly attired Bollywood celebrities, who have the media fawning over them. From Ranveer Singh to Deepika, Kareena, and Mouni Roy, these stars are widely followed and searched on the internet for the latest fashion trends.

Being fashionably attired when traveling doesn’t mean that you have to compromise on comfort. No matter what you choose to wear, feeling comfortable and confident ought to be our top priority. The ultimate way to enjoy your trip without worrying too much about your outfit.

Additionally just blindly following celebrities may not always work, fashion should reflect our own personal style as well. The aim is to feel good & look beautiful.

Elaborated below are some useful outfit ideas for how to look classy at the airport :

  • Sweatshirts, leggings, sneakers – this classic combination is the most comfortable option plus looks smart. It is ideal to wear loose-fitting clothes made of breathable fabric to feel cool even if you are sitting in a stuffy airplane for hours.
  • Travelers opt for baggy tops, t-shirts, hoodies, joggers, or track pants made of soft materials.
  • Nowadays matching knit sets for women and sweatsuits for men look stylish without sacrificing comfort. Calvin Klien jumpsuits are cool
  • An important aspect of dressing up for the airport is layering. Varying temperatures at airports, inside airplanes, and at destinations where travelers land require them to wear clothes in layers. Lightweight jackets, cardigans, scarves, and stoles can be easily worn or removed as needed.

Airport Fashion Ideas

  • Casual dresses for women add elegance and can be paired with a denim jacket and comfortable sandals.
  • The athleisure mode (mix of athletic and casual wear) is in vogue and has an impact on airport fashion, considering the comfort factor and style. Yoga and athletic gear have become popular travel wear.
  • Footwear that can be easily and quickly put on and off and is comfortable is most appropriate for airports. Travelers need to take them off at security checks and to relax during their journey. This includes sneakers, slip-on shoes, sandals, or flip-flops.
  • To reflect your individual style and for a touch of glamour, have a stylish handbag, sunglasses, and a watch. These would surely elevate your airport-style game.

My Experiences of Lifestyle Contrasts Between India and Europe https://travelsimplygo.com/my-experiences-of-lifestyle-contrasts-between-india-and-europe/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=my-experiences-of-lifestyle-contrasts-between-india-and-europe https://travelsimplygo.com/my-experiences-of-lifestyle-contrasts-between-india-and-europe/#respond Wed, 12 Jul 2023 13:59:15 +0000 https://travelsimplygo.com/?p=2910 The safety of women is questionable in the country that I come from. The safety of women is questionable in the country that I come from. It was more so a few years ago, nevertheless still exists. Women in India have to be more guarded when venturing out especially alone and in the night hours. Our parents always made sure that we were home before a specific timeline. Upbringing and society’s ways are such that being cautious is a necessity.

In contrast, what amazed me was how women in Europe go about/ carry on with their lives. Fearless and confident! A lone woman waiting at a deserted bus stop in the dead of the night almost seemed like an apparition, unreal. She seemed as cool as a cucumber, and we were impressed. You’ll find young women briskly walking home from work alone in the night – free-spirited and without a care. Even traveling alone on public transport late is quite safe. Ofcourse, there may not be another option. Nevertheless, it is a learning experience – to be independant and strong.

Culture

Another cool thing, moreso in western countries is the freedom to dress up the way you like, wear any type of clothes and no one will bother you!

The saying in Sanskrit “athiti devo bhava” aptly signifies a culture where guests are treated with care and warmth. In Indian homes as well as hotels guests are treated as though they are Gods. The hospitality at hotels in India is terrific, top-notch hotels take hospitality to the next level, making guests feel like royalty. Otherwise, also you’ll find yourselves surrounded by a bunch of people as soon as you alight at your abode – right from opening the car door for you, to your luggage being taken care of immediately, welcome drinks, and friendly staff!! Finally, there is someone to guide you to your room as well and inform you about the facilities available.

If you are a tourist in Europe, all these are absent and the experiences are quite different. Here’s a snapshot of your advent to a European destination :

Arrival Day :

  • You arrive at your hotel sans a soul at the entrance, and you wonder whether you are at the correct location. Everything is quiet and activityless.
  • Stepping inside the automatic doors, hauling all your luggage, and weary after a long journey, you face a receptionist who appears to be deeply immersed in her work. Acknowledging your presence after a few moments only, you are handed over the keys to your room.
  • The choice of room is subject to availability on that day, even though you’ve booked in advance.

Something that might be unexpected for first-time travelers to this part of the world, which you get accustomed to subsequently. Though the benefit of doubt for the first point can be attributed to the cold, windy weather, where people prefer to stay indoors.

Everything in life and in the cosmos is interconnected, and that brings us to the next point, which is EQUITY !! The dignity of labour is the biggest asset in this continent (Europe). Whether you are a mechanic or a doctor, a cab driver, or a top-rung manager, you’ll be treated with equal respect. No matter how much you earn or what type of job you are in, there is no disparity between people from different professions.
